Hugo Montenegro - Lady in Cement (1968)

Time for another album share here at Ultra Swank, this time featuring the groovy beats and melodies of Hugo Montenegro. This is the original soundtrack to the movie Lady in Cement starring Frank Sinatra as a private eye working in the swank (and not so swank) settings of Miami, Florida in the late 1960s. The movie is pretty nice, not a very original story - but you get to see some interesting locations. Such as the same great looking hotel that was featured in the James Bond movie Goldfinger made four years earlier.

The music is mostly upbeat with some groovy guitars and basslines, but there are also some laidback lounge type songs such as "The Shark" and "Again". The sound quality on the original vinyl was dull and had alot of pops and clicks. So I took the time to clean up all the songs and remastered all of them all in crisp, clear digital sound. Enjoy!

01) Lady in Cement
02) Jilly's Joint
03) Kit
04) Love is a many - Splendored Thing
05) Yales Pool Room
06) The Shark
07) Tony's Theme
08) Give Me the Simple Life
09) Rubys Burlesque
10) Again
11) Sugar Seymour

Läcker blog! Hit kommer jag definitivt åter. Utmärkt layout. En hel del Jacques Tati över det hela.

This soundtrack is awesome but didn't care for the movie so much. The first movie "Tony Rome" is much much better but there was no soundtrack. The setting is the Fontainebleau Hotel in Miami. They did use "background footage" of this hotel in Goldfinger. Here is a link for the hotel it was recently renovated so it's lost its 50's look. It was designed by the great architect Morris Lapidus and built in 1954.

My girlfriend in high school had a cameo in "Lady in Cement". She was a girl in a phone booth. Her father ran the sound system for some of Sinatra's shows in Las Vegas. I never got to meet Sinatra, but we did get free tickets to a few rock concerts.

Nice blog! The views of Sweden are facsinating to me.
