Les Baxter - Thinking of You (1954)

As promised here is my first of (hopefully) many more vinyl shares. First up is a real classic by Les Baxter. Found it on a auction site here in Sweden for about $6, what a bargain. Although this isn't a Exotica record per se, it is still very recognisable if you have heard Les Baxter's work before. Most of the songs on it are loungy and soft - perfect for a rainy night in front of the fire place.

01) Thinking of You
02) Speak Low
03) Because of You
04) With my Eyes Wide Open I'm Dreaming
05) I Love Paris
06) Miss You
07) Nevertheless
08) Lost in Meditation
09) Mine
10) The Nearness of You
11) Vieni, Vieni
12) Little White Lies

Nopes, this a 12" record. With noise-reduction, clicks och pops removal and what not by yours truly.

Congratulations Chris on your first album! Once again the sound clarity is stupendous! Great choice, and like xtabay said, I don't have this one either. Thanks for bringing me back to a simpler time.

Thanks Doug, I always try my best! The sound would probably been better if my vinyl player had a better pickup, still using the player I got at a thrift store for free a couple of years back. Talk to you soon!

Too bad Baxter was a real fraud, almost always using ghost writers

Hello there Chris - Just to say I like Ultra Swank very much - the combination of fascinating architecture flashbacks and lush sounds is mighty fine indeed. Whatever you do, please don't stop posting! And as "Anonymous" (aka Alex !?!?) can't seem to get his fingers around the "right word", I will gladly say: Please, could you re-post this Les Baxter album, Chris? I am quite new to this music scene and am just discovering the joys of Mr Baxter! Anyway, very best wishes to you and a Merry Christmas, sir.
